Here is my experience with a scammer- seemed totally legit, but I was so stupid to not question why the email address was so different to the name of the guy plus the poor grammar of this person.

Customs policy on receiving the car. It comes with original invoice, log book, keys and all the documents.

The price for the car is £1,200.00 !!!

The car was my wife but unfortunately she died. It brings very bad memories to me, I want to get rid of it.

The buyer will receive the car with all papers and receipts that he needs to register it to his name. It have 43,000 Miles!
I work as a police officer in United Kingdom .
I am in USA right now but the car is in UK and it will be shipped from there.


Shipping will be done whit D.A.S and it will take no more then 2 days,and it will be payed by me!

I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm left out of the country so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the internet. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.

Here is how it will work:
1.First of all I will need the following details from you:

- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address

2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.

3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.

4.eBay will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the car. If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.

Okay,

So if i were to give you my details would I receive the car before making a payment at all?
And then after 5 days of inspeciton I can make the decision whether I want it and then pay the money?

The car is located in London at a shipping and storage company DAS. So for this transaction we will use eBay company.Here is how the process works:

- you give me your full name and shipping address
- I start a transaction on eBay company,
- they send you the payment instructions,
- you send the money into eBay trust account,
- they confirm me that they received the funds,
- I ship the car,
- you receive the car,
- they send me the money.

I then tried to cancel it and re send the money because I thought i typed something in incorrectly,

Now my account has been suspended for a day, which is frustrating.

As you can see, I was very lucky. I think my bank suspended my account after picking up a security warning with this money transfer.

They never seem to answer your questions properly just reiterate what they have already said.

The car was advertised on gumtree.co.uk and had received over 50 'page views', Obviously a car of this quality at such a low price would have been snapped up in the first couple of views, so there's little things you can pick up on to realise it's a scam, although I was stupid enough to believe it.

Have a look at the pics,

he used the 'Ebay Buyer protection scam' which doesn't exist, with the email address- 'safetransactionsinc@instruction.com'
